If the only violation is price over the limit. Without the checkbox the button stays "Send for approval" — the employee can still send it to the approver and not top up; if approved, the company pays the full amount. Once the split-consent checkbox is ticked, the button changes to "Book with split payment": the top-up removes the price overage and the booking is placed immediately, no approver.
If the service also breaks other policy rules (not just price), the request goes to approval even with the checkbox ticked. The split isn't lost: the approval page shows it's a split payment — "Employee agreed to cover the part above the limit with a personal card (•••• 0008)", how much the company pays, how much the employee, and that the corporate part is charged per the legal-entity payment profile. The approver has the usual actions: Approve & book, Approve only, Reject.
No money is taken from either side until the approver decides. On rejection there's nothing to roll back — no charges were made.
